Property
and Casualty Insurance Review & Cram Course - by John J. Rugolo
Frequently Asked Questions
How hard is it to
pass the Property and Casualty Examination?
In PA and MD we are
told that those taking the P&C test, on the average, pass
on their third attempt.
Why should I consider
taking an OLT Review & Cram Course.
Each of our online
courses save students time, travel, and other expenses while
providing them with a highly effective way to prepare to pass
state examinations.
Why should I consider
taking the OLT Property and Casualty Review & Cram Course?
OLT Review & Cram Courses use the Redding
Method to lock important information in short term memory. For more information
about the Redding Method, click here. The
P&C course covers the material associated with both the 200 hour General
Lines Insurance Examination, and the material associated with the 100
hour Customer Representative Examination. Each online course costs OLT
between $10,000 and $20,000 to write and place online. The industry standard
is $200 per screen to place content online. At OLT we do it for less than
$20 per screen - but it is still expensive. Our Review & Cram Courses can have
more then 4,000 interactive screens. The point is, OLT Review & Cram Courses are
substantial carefully crafted products.
State insurance examinations
are designed to provide a 70% pass rate. Using the Redding Method
- based on the behavioral sciences, our cognitive learning model
produces a pass rate of 97% in the Life, Health and Annuities
area. We expect similar results in P&C - though it will take
time to fine tune the structure of the course.
Why is OLT used
public beta testers during the development phase of the P&C
course?
Normally, we would
use internal beta testers to fine tune a course. That is how
we developed the various state level Life, Health, and Annuities
Review & Cram Courses. However, working with actual students permits us
to match the course to a more viable test population - the public.
There are disadvantages to using the public - they can be time
consuming from a customer service perspective. The public demand
for a comprehensive P&C course has been very high. In order
to satisfy that demand - and in the hope of producing a better
product sooner - we are trying the new approach of using public
beta testers.
Okay, but why did
we charge $59.95 to beta test a course?
Given the level of
customer service we anticipate being associated with this approach,
we have set the price for the beta version at $59.95 - about
a third less then the full price of $89.95. Normally students
have access to our Review & Cram Courses for 30 days. During the beta
testing we provided access to the P&C Review & Cram Course for 30
days beyond its completion - or about 70 days. This means beta
testers received the complete course for an extended period of
time - at the reduced price.
What were beta testers
required to do?
Beta testers should
plan to provide active feedback both prior to taking the P&C
examination and after passing the examination. Your feedback
allows us to fine tune the course.
When did beta testing
end?
Testing ended October
4, 1999. The P&C Review & Cram Course has been well received and continues
to be offered at $89.95. Corporate discounts are being
considered for group enrollments by industry corporations and
educational institutions
