RESEARCH PHILOSOPHY

All OLT educational activities are founded on the notion that man is by his very nature a learning animal.  We thrive through coming to understand our circumstances and our environment.  Our physical and spiritual needs emerge from creation and our understanding of who we are and where we are within the universe. Learning is in our nature and man is by nature a self-directed learner.  It is within our circumstances that our learning is organized. OLT Research Institute conducts research in the area of learning theory and application to insure our courses are highly effective and that our students are able to learn as needed when needed.

The OLT Research Institute (OLTRI) is an umbrella organization that provides research support for OnLine Training, Inc. educational activities. These activities include Global Learn Day, fundamental research in high self-directed learning and other activities that foster self-directed learning.

These activities include the continuing education programs offered by OnLine Training Institute which are primarily distributed through Florida colleges within Florida and nationwide through various distribution channels. Research associated with learning theory as it translates into distant education programs, instructional design, marketing, end-of-course surveys, program completion and pass rates are routinely part of the daily research conducted by OLTRI.

Additionally, OLTRI supports community service research and activities identified by OLT as worthy of support.  These include operating a club amateur radio station, astronomical observatory, and other programs such as the Russian Plasma Experiment abord the International Space Station and the South Florida Science Museum’s Amateur Radio International Space Station live contact event. INDUSTRY RESEARCH PROJECT

In today’s competetive market, companies find it necessary to invest in employees with high levels of skills, knowledge, and committment. OLT Research Institute is currently studying insurance agents and their persistence in the industry. We are asking employers to participate in a research study which will ultimately give the employer better tools to choose between potential employees and also a customized plan to help new employees achieve successful integration with their company. We are not a government agency and receive no government funds to perform our research. We work with our students and business partners on an individual basis to ensure each gets optimum attention and maximum benefit.

As part of our support services OnLine Training Insitute can:

  1. Complete a needs asessment with various businesses within industries to document the skills and knowledge necessary to be successful in each industry.
  2. Share the needs assessment results with the partner businesses in each industry and create a Learning and Development Plan unique to the industry that will identify the required skills and knowledge identified in the needs assessment.
  3. Source appropriate learning solutions to satisfy the Learning and Development Plan for each individual prospective employee.
  4. Monitor the learning progress of each individual seeking employment in the partner businesses to assure important schedules and milestones are met.

We encourage partner businesses to:

  1. Provide input to the needs assessment process to ensure appropriate information is collected regarding skills and knowledge needed in the industry.
  2. Interview students as possible new hires when they complete the course of study described in the Learning and Development Plan.
  3. Participate in our survey so that we continually receive the latest information relevant to the industry that will improve learning solutions that are developed.

The potential employee will:

  1. Complete all learning and development courses and activities included in each potential employee's Learning and Development Plan.
  2. Agree to a minimum term of employement with the sponsoring company or organization if all qualifications are met.
