Course Title: "The Elements of Life Insurance and its Uses in Contemporary America"

Course Description: 14-hour OnLine CE course designed to meet State Continuing Education requirements. (In South Carolina the course is worth 7 credit hours.)

This online course covers the following topics: the purpose of insurance (the role, nature and concept of risk...); composition of the industry (company types, regulation...), legal contract concepts (general law, policy delivery, back dating...); types of life insurance policies (individual term life, whole life...); life insurance policy provisions and options; policy options and riders, beneficiary options (dividend, policy riders); life insurance premiums; settlement options; life insurance underwriting and issue; group life insurance; social security; retirement plans; and Uses of Life Insurance.

No classroom attendance required. Credit is earned online in the virtual classroom. This intermediate level life course is acceptable for agents holding a life or Life & Health license. The course is an overview of the life insurance industry and the elements of traditional and modern interest sensitive and variable products. It touches on the "needs" method of insurance planning and wraps up with two interesting cases for the student to apply their knowledge in possible solutions.
