Dear Friend,
Project South is pleased to announce the creation of a new program: Building
a Movement: A Popular Education Skills Retreat. We call it the BAM and it‚s
a weekend-long retreat where we learn about movement building and popular education.
You can be a part of it if you register soon.
For the last few years Project South has worked with organizations around the
country to create popular educators. With the introduction of the BAM, we are
expanding this program. BAMs focus on popular education in the context of movement
building. We discuss how to use popular education to build a mass movement.
Some items from the agenda include: · The importance of history in movement
building · The principles of popular education · Tips on facilitating
· Where the movement for social & economic justice is today In addition
to seeing popular education tools demonstrated, the BAM also provides you an
opportunity to create a popular education workshop. By working in small groups
you and other participants will create and demonstrate a tool for popular education.
You‚ll go home from this weekend with a list of useful popular education
exercises. The next BAM is schedule in Atlanta, Georgia on November 2-3, 2002.
