For 25 years, outstanding authors and researchers in SDL have presented at the annual symposium. Each year the symposium awards the Malcolm Knolwes SDL award for outstanding contribution to the field. In 2011, the award went to Naomi Boyer, Polk State College, and Bob Bulik, University of Texas.

Please direct all inquiries about the Symposium and/or paper presentations to:
issdl.sdlglobal@gmail.com

Silent Auction: During each Symposium we have a Silent Auction to raise money for student scholarships for symposium registration for the following year. Please bring one or more items for the auction such as a book, some local wine, some of your artwork or photography, a white elephant...

Hotel Reservations: Please call the hotels directly by January 23 and tell them you are reserving a room at the conference rate of $119.00. The group name they have on file is "26th International Self-Directed Learning Symposium". The hotels are fully booked for the 8th and 9th except for the rooms they are holding for us, so online reservations or reservations through the 800 numbers will no longer work.

Marriott reservations: 321-784-4800, extension 2. As of 1/20/12 they are holding 9 more rooms for symposium attendees.

Hampton Inn reservations (next door): 321-799-4099. As of 1/20/12, they are holding 5 more rooms for symposium attendees.

25th Anniversary Wiki: In 2011, to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the SDL symposium a team of doctoral students from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, offered a variety of technology sessions as well as helped facilitate the creation of a wiki. Symposium participants posted reflections and information to the wiki site. The site is located at: ISDLS2010.pbworks.com
